Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
