Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the Wolves board as they begin the process of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
